day 27

workout: plyometrics

blah! so blogging everyday is not working so well. plyometrics today was boring. yup. i said it. i am getting so bored of the videos. time to dig deep and find some different motivation b/c tony's jokes and comments are not getting it done for me anymore. in fact, joon and i even turned it off five minutes early today.

joon wants to speed train for a 5k, which i think would be great for him. i have picked up running again as well. i am thinking that the two of us signing up for some races would be a good way to keep our motivation up (sharon, if you are reading this, thanks for the idea!) and keep us on track with p90x.

and i have lost my blogging partner. not only has he stopped posting, but he is out of town again. that part is ok, i seem to stay on track better when he is gone but it is fun to have someone to work out with!

day 23

workout: legs and back, ab ripper 200

i am in denial that i need to give up ab ripper 200 for ab ripper x. the 200 is still tough for me and i know x will kill me. but, i think i need to step it up next week.

glad its over, it was hard to get out of bed this morning but the workout felt good. using the pull-up bar instead of the bands is a big difference and i prefer the bar.

day 22

workout: yoga x

well, i really did wake up at 430 and do yoga with tony. no ass-kicking needed. i really have lost my mind. my left foot was bothering me (it has been getting much better, but it seems not wearing shoes changed things a bit) so it wasn't at 100% but i did stick with it. and so glad i did. hellishly long day today. wanted nothing more than to just come home and drink some wine but instead i made myself a protein shake...

what the fuck is happening to me? ;)

crazier than that is that i will be getting up at 5 tomorrow to do legs and back. it is really that much nicer to get it over with before my day starts. plus tomorrow is shaping up to be another freakishly long day. s'ok. just gotta get my p90x in.

day 21

workout: arms and shoulders, ab ripper 200, 2 miles on the treadmill (sprints and hills), 2 miles on a bike (intervals)

she's baaaaack...

so today was the first day i have felt the p90x surge in awhile. it was a great day and the workouts were awesome. my oldest had a class at our gym and i realized the other two could hang out in childcare and i could get some sort of cardio in, even if it wasn't the full hour i like to spend there. then after the nighttime mom duties were done, i hung out with tony for a bit...i love the lifting workouts. so much. the plyo, yoga, and kenpo are ok (and i like them in that order) but the lifting is where its at for me. love it!

as for the p90x specifics of the day...chair dips were the money shot! i did 18 the first round and 20 the second. before you gasp in shock, i should put it out there that i am doing them on this (if you are ubercurious one of the thumbnails shows how it is used for dips), with my feet on the ground and my knees bent.

i am sticking with our original day numbers. we did decide to sort of blow off recovery week. i am doing week 3 over again and then will go right into the week 5 schedule. i realize that our actual day numbers will be off from the official schedule by a couple of days, but i am not going to worry about it until it becomes a problem (if it ever does).

yoga tomorrow. i am waking up early for this one as i have a meeting tomorrow night. kick me in the ass if i blow it off...

something to look forward to!

workout: plyo but with no jumping (left foot)

my left foot is having issues so i took it easy with plyo this morning by not really leaving the ground. it didn't feel like a p90x workout as i wasn't sweating like a sow, but it did feel like a workout. i am not sure what day we are on, i need to check in with joon on that and then i will get back to labeling my posts with days.

but BUT BUT BUT i am superexcited to have found this (both the shirt and the headband):

because it is always nice to have something to work toward...

a rough patch

so, it happened. the distractions, life, time. we got off track and i skipped two days. after much consideration and discussions with joon, we decided to push the great 'reset' button on the week. i was having a hard time with workouts on both weekend days and didn't really need a day of rest on wednesday. SO, we are starting the week now, on monday, so that our 7th day will fall on sunday and we can take that as a rest day. i also like that it leaves me the option of doubling up on fridays so that i can take the weekend off. it is just hard, with such little family time during the week, to make the time for the videos on the weekend. i just want down time then. give me the craziness all week long, but don't make me set my alarm on the weekend!

chest and back again today, tomorrow plyo. repeating the week 3 schedule.

a note on the diet aspect. since my goal here is to get in better shape and lose weight, i am going to stop following the nutrition plan that p90x sets. instead, i am going to focus on a calorie-based, lower carb, higher protein eating plan. i am having a hard time just fitting it all in and at the same time i do not want to give up, so i am going to try and loosen up a bit in certain places in hopes of keeping the bigger picture together.

Day 15

A sixth of the way there! I feel stronger everyday. Rather than taking a rest day yesterday, I ran on the treadmill for over 3 miles. Did it at a pretty brisk pace. It felt really good (which usually is not the case when I run). My legs are a bit sore today but, man, it's amazing how fast p90x is getting me into shape. Can't say enough about it. I've been telling anyone who will listen about it...Bring it!

day 15

workout: chest and back, ab ripper 200

i noticed a difference immediately when i started working out. so. much. stronger. i felt my form had improved and just felt so powerful while doing the push-ups and pull-ups. i am using the pull-up bar now, with a chair. i did 5 decline push-ups--a vast improvement from notquiteone of former weeks. still working on the dive bombers....i wonder if i will be able to do a pull-up first or a dive bomber push-up?
